The (un-named) New Year's Baby of 2011 was born January 3. Her parents are Claes Jonsson and Betty Reynolds of Santaquin.
County officials were sworn in. They are: Rick Carlton, County Commissioner; DeEtte Worthington, County Treasurer; Craig Sperry, County Recorder; Chad Winn, County Commissioner; Jared Eldridge, County Attorney; Pat Ingram, County Clerk/Auditor; Alden Orme, Sheriff; and Shirl Nichols, County Assessor.
Juab School Board swore in new members, Linda Hanks and Tracy Olsen. Dale Whitlock replaced Delanie Hathaway as board president.
In a closed session, Juab County Commissioners met with Randy Brooks to discuss his closing of a road denying access for the public to access parts of Mt. Nebo.

The Common Core State Standards for English and Mathematics was adopted by Utah. The purpose is to establish a nationwide curriculum that provides a consistent, clear understanding of what students are expected to learn, so teachers and parents know what they need to do to help them.
Two historic buildings in Nephi (the Old Gym and the National Guard Armory), though they don't meet current building standards, were found to be structurally sound for their current uses.
The freezing cold weather has forced construction on the sewer lines on the Mona Sewer Collection System to halt. However, work on the treatment facility continued.
Levan water users continue to be concerned about the lack of action by the Juab County Commission in obtaining either water or money from the Central Utah Water Conservancy District.

Juab High wants to erect an outdoor LED sign, but must meet current rules and possible problems with residents.
The Board of Utah State Parks and Recreation approved a new discounted pass for Utah veterans with disabilities.The pass will provide day-use access to most of Utah's 43 state parks for the pass holder and up to seven guests.
Mona City Council members opposed boys' home in a Mona residential area. The majority of residents were appalled at the possibility of the home being located inside Mona.

The County Commission decided to preview agenda requests to determine whether or not they will be addressed in public meeting. The Juab School District Board of Education members have also decided not to address certain matters by not allowing some topics to be listed on the agenda.
Sarah Robinson was hired by the Nephi City Council as the first female Nephi City Police Department officer.
All but one of the ten people attending a public hearing in Nephi were in favor of obtaining funding to improve the current municipal swimming pool by adding a splash pad.

About 15-20 students at Juab High were interviews in conjunction with reports concerning drug abuse among students. Disciplinary action by the school was taken the same week.
Though nothing can be done to stop the sewer project in Mona, one resident wanted to enter a protest with the city council. He was concerned about the cost to each citizen in the community.
Though there have been some weather-related problems, the Mona sewer project is back in action. The company is now in the process of digging the main line from the plant up the road to the east.
Nephi grew, but not as much as expected, according to the 2010 national census. Mona, Levan and Rocky Ridge all grew at a faster rate than Nephi but Eureka lost ground.
Golden Mangelson, Robert Shepherd, Gerald Hall and Ferrell Wankier, Levan Irrigation Company, met with Juab County Commissioners to find out what Rick Carlton, commissioner, intended to do about one of his campaign promises, to get the CUP water promised Juab County.
Unused prescriptions in our homes account for more than half of prescription abuse and misuse. Nephi City Police installed a collections bin next to the front steps of the police station.
All steps are now in place for anyone wanting to take advantage of the Net Metering system in Nephi. The customer interested in generating some of their electricity by using Net Metering is a policy for customers who own small renewable energy facilities.

Smaller residential building lots will now be allowed in some areas of the county. A two-acre requirement was set by the County Commissioners.
Juab High placed 12 Sterling Scholars in 15 categories: Celeste Mickelson, runner-up Business and Marketing; Drew Adams, runner-up Computer and Information Technology; Tyrell Aagard, runner-up Social Science; Shalice Butterfield, runner-up Family and Consumer Science; Jeff Harris, runner-up Trade and Technical; Morgan Peterson, runner-up Science; Katie Baker, runner-up Visual Arts; Kaylea Drake, winner Music; Lauren Jones, winner English and Literature; Ashley Dabel, runner-up Foreign Language; Madison Finch, runner-up Dance; and Camron Robinson, runner-up Speech and Drama.
Juab County adopted a new ordinance pending a final review of beer sale licensing in unincorporated portions of the county.
Nephi City approved a conditional use permit for the high school to install and operate a marquee sign at the campus.

Vehicle burglaries on the rise again. Burglaries involve everything that can be removed and occur at all hours, day and night.

All 7th grade students at Juab Junior High will be using iPods as a learning tool during the school year.
The south end of the Nebo Loop Scenic Byway was closed from the Salt Creek Gate to Devils Kitchen for repair to the "slump." The closure was for 60 days, beginning May 23.
Law Enforcement officers from two counties came together to arrest more than two dozen people in a series of drug raids. The arrests came as the result of a year's worth of undercover work, revolving around the abuse and illegal distribution of pain pills and heroin. Most of the suspects were awakened and hauled off to jail.

Mona City Council's family members are sometimes mistreated by townspeople. Sometimes townspeople are unable to contact elected officials, so they take out their frustrations on family members.
Delanie Hathaway resigned from the Juab School Board due to work/schedule conflicts.
A chance-of-a-lifetime for this year's Youth Conference. The Nephi Utah Stake 14-18-year olds took a trip to Nauvoo, Illinois, to tour various church sites.
Miss Nebo Emma Clement competed in the Miss Utah Pageant.
Three more drug dealers were arrested for their activities connected with reported sales in the area.
Mona's sewer line system in the city's streets near completion while the treatment plant is becoming a building. Eighty-five percent of the digging is done.
The 4th of July celebration was changed to July 2nd, however, the fireworks display will take place on July 4th.
