Betty Boswell
Betty Jean Salisbury Boswell, age 74, passed away Dec.
27, 2003 in Sandy, Utah.
She was born Jan. 16, 1929 in Nephi, Utah, to David
Richard and Zelda King Salisbury.
She graduated from Juab High School, 1947. She was
very active in school, community and church activities. She
retired from Salt Lake County Data Processing in 1994. She
loved camping, family get togethers, and traveling. Betty
was an avid Jazz and Utah basketball fan.
She is survived by her sons, Craig and Lynn Boswell;
daughter, Peggy Dwyer; sister, Connie (John) Critchley;
brother, Tony Salisbury; and 7 grandchildren. She was
preceded in death by a brother, Dick Salisbury.
Graveside services will be at 12 noon, Wednesday, Dec.
31, 2003 at Vine Bluff Cemetery, Nephi, Utah. Friends may
call at Anderson Funeral Home, 94 West 300 North Nephi, from
11 a.m. till time of services.
Ray Garlick
Ray E. Garlick, age 91, died Dec. 17, 2003 at home.
He was born March 19, 1912 to Erastis and Minnie
Malinda Garlick in Fairview, Utah. He married Maxine Bills,
Oct. 16, 1938. Their marriage was later solemnized in the
Manti LDS Temple.
Ray served in the Navy Reserve. He served as secretary
in the Elder's Quorum in Fountain Green and the 3rd Ward in
Nephi. He worked in the extraction program for 5 years and
at the rubber plant for 35 years.
He is survived by his wife Maxine; 5 daughters, Beulah
Ferry of Orem, Luana (Jack) Burton of West Valley, Arlene
Cleverly of Magna, Karen (Robert) Lyman of Nephi, and Linda
(Robert) Talbot of Spanish Fork; son, Ellis (Debbie) of
Payson; brother, Ward (Mable) Garlick; and a sister, Velma
Sykes. Ray was preceded in death by his son, Ricky, 2
brothers and 1 sister.
Funeral Services were held Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003 in
the Nephi 3rd Ward Chapel.
Erma Greenhalgh
Erma Elizabeth Worthington Greenhalgh, age 92, passed
away Dec. 30, 2003 in the Fillmore Hospital. She was born
June 17, 1911 in Nephi, Utah.
Erma was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints and held positions in the Relief Society,
Primary, Sunday School and Young Women organizations. She
was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and had
been involved in a number of local clubs and societies
through the years.
She is survived by three sons, Neil (Nila) Greenhalgh
of Papillion, Nebraska, Gordon (Mary Alice) Greenhalgh of
Las Vegas, Nevada, and Lynn (Judy) Greenhalgh of Fillmore;
14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren. She was preceded
in death by her husband Joseph Read Greenhalgh, son Carl,
great-grandson Justin Greenhalgh, brother Carl Worthington,
and sister Lillian Mortensen.
A viewing will be held Friday, Jan. 2, 2004, from 6 to
8 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Nephi. The funeral
will be held on Saturday, Jan. 3, at 1 p.m. in the Nephi 8th
Ward Chapel.
Louis Tidwell
Louis Patrick Tidwell, age 32, passed away Dec. 27, 2003.
He was born in Nephi, Utah, April 10, 1971 to Louis Creig
and Gail Higginson Tidwell. He married Debbie Marie Thomas
April 26, 1997 in Nephi.
He worked for NRP for the last 12 years. He was an
avid Raiders football fan. He loved history. He was a member
of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He is survived by his wife Debbie; son, Gary Patrick
Tidwell; 4 stepchildren, Jessica, Jack, Janelle and Justin
Wilkinson; mother Gail and stepfather Wells Cloward; father
Louis Tidwell; 3 sisters, Michelle (Mike) Barrett, Wendy
(Dave) Larsen, Amy (Dave) Bingham; 2 brothers, C. Dwane
Tidwell, Timothy Tidwell, all of Spring City, Utah; 3
grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his grandfather,
Louis D. Tidwell.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004
at 11:00 a.m. at the Nephi Utah Stake Center. The viewing
will be held one hour prior to services.
Helen Whiting
Helen Estelle Whiting, age 85, passed away Dec. 24, 2003
at her home in Riverdale, Utah. She was born Aug. 30, 1918
in Provo, Utah, to Martin Wilford and Estelle Mecham
Poulson. She had a 4 year marriage to Alfred Lavere
Harrison. She married Howard Sigsby Lichfield in 1952, they
later divorced. She married Oris Edward Whiting, July 18,
1968. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Provo LDS
Temple Feb. 15, 1989.
She taught elementary school for many years. Her
special gift was in teaching children the foundations of
reading.
She is survived by her children, M. Chris (Beth)
Harrison, Pamela (Harold) Harrison, Nancy Harrison;
step-children, Pat (Scott) Van Fleet, Glade (Nola) Whiting;
17 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; and 1
great-great-grandchild; a sister Jennie Lin Strong. She was
preceded in death by her husband, Oris Whiting, 3 brothers
and 2 sisters, a stepson and stepdaughter.
Funeral services were held Dec. 27, 2003 at the
Anderson Funeral Home, Nephi, Utah. Interment in Vine Bluff
Cemetery. The family requests that donations be made to the
prevention and cure of breast cancer.
Joe Bodell
Joe Bodell, age 83, died Dec. 24, 2003 in Idaho Falls,
Idaho. He was born June 20, 1920 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to
Joseph Samuel and Emma Hiskey Bodell. He married Norma
Merkley on Feb. 6, 1942 in the Logan LDS Temple. They were
the parents of 2 daughters and 2 sons. Norma preceded Joe in
death. They lived in Rigby, Idaho, or over 30 years.
Joe was an ag teacher in Rigby and received many
honors. His judging teams won 24 state titles.
He is survived by children, Joan, Eloise, Steven and
Robert; 1 sister, Isabel (Bud) Haymond of Nephi.
