Juab County Commissioners support Levan Town's quest to operate ambulance service By Myrna Trauntvein Times-News Correspondent The Juab County Commission went on record in November as supporting Levan Town and the quest to obtain a license to operate an ambulance service. The commission reiterated its support on Monday at commission meeting. "We sent a letter of support for the proposal to the director of the Bureau of Emergency Services," said Neil Cook, commissioner. The letter went to Jan M. Buttery, who is the director, requesting the license application be approved. "The Juab county commission would like to formally go on record in full support of Levan Town and their quest to obtain a license to operate an ambulance service," read one sentence of the letter. All three commissioners signed the letter after reviewing Levan's "Notice of Agency Action." "The county has been quite supportive of Levan Town having its own ambulance service for some time and has never threatened to withdraw its support for Levan having its own license," commissioners stated in the letter. "We have been in full support for quite some time," said Cook. In addition, the letter indicated the county commission fully supported the boundary compromise worked out between Bruce Rowley, Levan Town EMS Coordinator, Juab County Sheriff Alden Orme, and Commissioner Cook. The boundary assures that no one agency's members think they are infringing on another agency's boundaries when supplying emergency care. Ambulance associations will continue to offer backup support whenever needed. The boundary description for the Levan Ambulance Association would be from I-15 mile post 207 Mills Road, west on Mills road to Juab County/Millard county line, then south on Juab County/Millard County line to the southeast line of those two counties. The boundary would then travel southeast on the Juab County/Millard County/Sanpete County line. It would go east to the eastern Juab County/Sanpete County line, then north on that line to Four Mile Creek. The line would then go west to I-15 mile post 207 and back to the place of beginning. "We not only supported Levan's effort to obtain a license but urged the Bureau of Emergency Services to issue the license to the town in a timely manner," said Cook. |
