It must have been the holiday season or cold weather
that kept numbers down at the Levan Town Council meeting
December 11. Four people showed up to hear the issues
discussed by the council.
The council readdressed the issue of extending
power service to Bob Olson. Mayor Bob Shepherd said that
either the town could extend service or they could let Utah
Power and Light extend service. The council decided that it
would be better if the town provided service.
Ryan Aagard also expressed the need of the town
drawing up a Master Plan for the city. He said he would meet
with the Planning and Zoning committee and see what they
could come up with.
Mr. Aagard made the motion to provide power service to
Bob Olson with the stipulation that he would sign an
agreement to annex his property into city limits if the need
arose, and he would pay for all expenses. Paul Mangelson
seconded the motion and it was approved.
The council decided to provide the Christmas
candy for the ward parties. They would get with the person
responsible and discuss a cost limit. The also approved a
Christmas lighting contest.
Secretary Carol Mattinson reported that she had
found an affordable computer at Totally Awesome Computers.
She said she had price shopped and this was the best package
for the best price. The total package would cost
$1,479.00.
After breaking for the Executive Session the
council decided to appoint Graham Misbach as the new town
clerk. Mayor Shepherd expressed his thanks to all the people
who applied for the position.
They also decided to raise the wage of the treasurer
to $10.00 an hour.
Council Member Concerns;
Paul Mangelson said he had had some individuals ask
about the price increase for stock water. He was informed
that the council had already approved the price increase
back in August and was given a copy of the minutes from that
meeting.
He also asked if it would save time if all residents
put their garbage cans on the same side of the street on
pick-up day. Ms. Mattinson said that they had already tried
that and residents didn't respond to it favorably.
Ryan Aagard said that the fire district wanted the
title on the fire truck to be signed over. Mayor Shepherd
was concerned about the title being transferred before the
bond was paid for. Mr. Aagard said that the liability on the
truck should be on the fire district. The Mayor had no
problem with transferring the title.
January's meeting time was not available at press
time.
