Margene F. Miller
1935-2007
Margene Francis Shepherd Carter Miller, age 72, passed way November 7, 2007 in Provo, Utah.
She was born July 22, 1935 in Levan, Utah, to John Devine and Gertude Sherwood Shepherd. She married Tim Carter Nov. 1952 they were divorced in 1989. She married David Isaac Miller Aug. 2001.
She was graduated from Juab High School and attended Classic Beauty College in Phoenix, AZ in 1990. She owned and operated restaurants for 30 years and was a Cosmetologist for 11 years. She was a member of the LDS Church. She enjoyed reading, golf, crocheting, traveling all over the world, basketball, and baseball.
Survived by her husband David Miller; children, Timothy Jon (Jamie) Carter, Jim Laver (Cyndi) Carter, and Desiree (Axel) Bjerkoe; 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; brothers, Willis (Joyce) Shepherd and John (Louise) Shepherd; sisters, Gwen (Bill) Cowan and JoAnn (Don) Adams. Preceded in death by parents; her sister, Rayola Thorn; brothers, Gerald and Roger Shepherd.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 12, 2007 in the Nephi North Stake Center, 1125 N. 400 E. Interment in the Annabella, Utah Cemetery.
Bernice Barton Royce
1920-2007
Bernice Barton Royce, 87, passed away November 8, 2007. She was born August 29, 1920 in Manti Utah to Byron and Janie Peacock Barton. The family moved to Southern California, because of her father’s health. Her father died when she was 10. She was the youngest of four, being raised through the depression years by their single mother.
She married Donald Arthur Royce August 31, 1938 later solemnized in the Manti Temple 1956. She was always active in the LDS church, with many callings, after the family became converted in 1954. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother of four. She loved the outdoors and was revered as a great cook. Bernice worked many years for the School Lunch program, taking hot lunches to Mona and Levan, and 14 years as a dietitian and cook in the Juab County Hospital. She loved to entertain friends and family and established family traditions that will last for generations.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 69 years, her sister and best friend Leila Neil; four children, Jean Fowkes (Lee) of Nephi, Robert Royce (Pat) of West Jordan, Mike Royce (Carolyn) of Levan, Dale Royce (Gay) of Nephi; 17 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
A celebration of her life was held at 11a.m. Tuesday, November 13, 2007 in the Nephi North Stake Center, 1125 N. 400 E. Interment in Vine Bluff Cemetery, Nephi, Utah.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the loving staff at the Victorian House for their wonderful care, also her hospice and home health caregivers.
