Edward Worwood

Edward William Worwood, age 83, passed away November 5, 2004 in Nephi, Utah. He was born June 25, 1921 in Levan, Utah, to William Joseph and Alice Lila Jennings Worwood. He married Myrle Juanita Walker December 6, 1946 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a veteran of WWII. He was active in the community including 30 years in the Juab Sheriff's Search and Rescue.

He is survived by his wife Myrle; five children, Scott (Cynthia), Tamara (Randy), Martin (Becky), Tony (Jeanne), Skip (Danise); 34 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren; brother, Dale Worwood; sister, Carma Novian. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Lee, Verl, Gay and Karl; a sister, Neola.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 9, 2004 in the Nephi 8th Ward. Interment will be in the Vine Bluff Cemetery, Nephi, Utah.


Craig Olsen -- Jackie Olsen

Craig David "Oatmeal" Olsen and Jackie Lynn Mattinson Olsen died Sunday, November 7, 2004, as the result of a tragic auto accident near Wikieup, Arizona.

Craig was born June 27, 1952 in Nephi, Utah, to Jay L. Olsen and Marva Belliston. He was raised in Fountain Green and graduated from North Sanpete High School. He served with the Utah National Guard 1457th in Germany and Desert Storm in 1991. David was currently employed as a Foreman for Condie Construction Company on location in Bullhead City, Arizona. He was also a successful Pre-Paid Legal Associate, and excelled in marketing. He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-Saints, and served as Executive Secretary, Primary Teacher, and in many other ward callings. David grew up on the family farm in Fountain Green, he loved herding sheep and being in the outdoors.

Jackie was born April 23, 1956 in Nephi, Utah, to Robert Mattinson and Lucille Belliston. She was raised in Nephi and graduated from Juab High School. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served as a Nursery Leader, Librarian, and in many other ward callings. Jackie loved being around children and was always cooking something.

They were enjoying being empty-nesters, and loved traveling together.

David and Jackie were married June 28, 1974 in Nephi. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. They have 5 children who survive them: Troy (Melissa) Olsen, Tony (Zetta) Olsen, Michelle (Joshua) Smith, Wayne Olsen, and Angela (Trent) DeMill, and 10 grandchildren; their parents and siblings: Steven (Candy) Olsen, Margie (Rod) Ostler, Laura (Jeff) Watson, Connie (Wayne) Jarrett, Allen (Brenda) Olsen, Terry (Rhonda) Smith, Mark Mattinson, David (Deleasa) Mattinson, Max Mattinson, Donald (Kathy) Mattinson, Blake (Dorothy) Mattinson. Preceded in death by an infant sister Susan Olsen.

Funeral services are pending from the Anderson Funeral Home Nephi, Utah.


Gordon Garrett

Gordon Lee "Gibby" Garrett, age 53, passed away November 5, 2004 at his home in Nephi, Utah. He was born May 14, 1951 in Payson, Utah, to Rodger and Wanda Hansen Garrett. He married Sharon Kay September 3, 1971 in Nephi.

He graduated from Juab High School in 1969. He was a member to the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints. He worked for NRP for 29 years in handmade hose. Gordon was a member of the Nephi Jaycees and served in many capacities including President and Regional Director for the state. He loved the Jaycees and especially being able to help with Santa. He loved camping, boating, hunting, fishing and riding his motorcycle. He loved the outdoors and spent many hours outside.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon of Nephi; son, Raymond (Candace) Garrett of Payson; daughter, Lisa (Todd) Fowles of West Valley City; two grandchildren; sister, Gayle (Jerry) Steele. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Phyllis Christiansen.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 9, 2004 in the Nephi 5th Ward. Interment in the Vine Bluff Cemetery Nephi, Utah.
