Jack Carter
Jack LaRoy Carter, age 72, passed away Nov. 3, 2002 in
Provo, Utah.
He was born Aug. 30, 1930, in Nephi, Utah, to Lyndon
LeRoy and Virginia Mae (Gyppe) Scottern Carter. He married
Loa Jean Holman of Santaquin, Utah, Sept. 20, 1956, in Las
Vegas, Nevada.
He worked and owned the Tiara Cafe in Nephi for 40
years and retired in 1997. After graduating from Juab High
School he served in the United States Navy for 11 years. He
was a lifetime member of the DAV. He was an Elder in the
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He is survived by his wife, Loa, of Nephi; children,
Jeff (Kristy) Carter and Tamilee (Bill) Tomadakis, all of
Nephi; 9 grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Ann Coombs and
Jim Carter of Nephi; Patsy Iverson of Filmore; Tim Carter of
Snowflake, Arizona. He was preceded in death by two
brothers, Algean and Max Carter.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday
(today), Nov. 6, 2002, in the Nephi 8th Ward, 222 South 100
East. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the
services. Interment will be in the Santaquin City
Cemetery.
Ruth Wetherell
Ruth Miller Wetherell, age 82, of Nephi, Utah, passed
away Oct. 28, 2002, in Scottsdale, Arizona. Ruth was born
Sept. 14, 1920, to Howard William and Ida Emelia Dorius
Miller in Salt Lake City, Utah.
She married Dick Wetherell, April 8, 1939, in Salina,
Utah. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick, and
son, Scot. She is survived by children, Jayne Hanes, F.
Robert "Bob" Wetherell, Susie (Dennis) Bogue, and Mary Lou
(Don) Alldredge; 13 grandchildren; and 14
great-grandchildren.
Ruth was an aide at Juab County Hospital for more than
30 years, President of the Senior Citizen's Group in Nephi,
and active in many local clubs including the GFWC 21st
Century/Delphic Literary Club, scouting and serving as ward
librarian.
Funeral services were held Nov. 2, 2002, in the Nephi
2nd Ward Chapel. Interment in the Nephi City Cemetery.
