Funerals
Don W. Jones
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 11, 2000
at 11:00 AM in the Kanab Utah Stake Center. Viewings will be
held Friday, Nov. 10, 2000 from 6-8 PM at Mosdell Mortuary
and Saturday, Nov. 11, 2000 from 9:30-10:45 AM at the
chapel. Burial will be in the Kanab Cemetery under the
direction of Mosdell Mortuary. Complete Obituaries will be
run in our next edition.
Elwin Goble
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM November 13, 2000
at the Anderson Funeral Home, 94 West 300 North. Friends may
call one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Vine
Bluff Cemetery, Nephi, Utah.

Bessie Howell
Bessie Evelyn Sowby Howell passed away Nov. 2, 2000. She
was born Jan. 14, 1903, in Nephi, Utah, to Albert M. Sowby
and Grace H. Evans. She married Rollo F. Howell on June 17,
1925, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Bessie was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities. She left
a legacy in handwork, tatting, and quilts.
Bessie is survived by her three children, Grace Mackay,
Melba (Dee) Holmes, and Don R. (Lucy) Howell; 16
grandchildren; and 51 great-grandchildren. She was preceded
in death by her husband, Rollo; her brothers, Ernest and
Lawrence; and her sisters, Thelma and Ethel.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Nov. 13, 2000, at
11:00 a.m. in the Grandview LDS Ward Chapel, 2930 South 2000
East. Friends may call at Goff Mortuary, 8090 South State
Sunday 6-8 p.m. and Monday at the church from 9:45-10:45
a.m. Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery.
Jewell Stephens
Jewell Emily Stephens, age 88, passed away Nov. 1, 2000.
She was born in Blocker, Oklahoma, Aug. 3, 1912, the seventh
child of William Jefferson Duff and Caroline Elizabeth
Aaron.
She married William Burl Stephens July 13, 1929. The
marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
She lived most of her life in Oklahoma. She and her husband
moved to Utah in 1978.
She worked beside her husband on a farm near where she
was born. They later moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where they
owned and operated a small neighborhood grocery store. She
was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day
Saints.
She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Berlyne (Bud)
Ormond of American Fork; three grandchildren, including
Deborah (Lynn) Wilson of Nephi; many great-grandchildren;
and four great-great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Burl; one
grandson, Timothy; three brothers, Oliver, Bud and Aaron;
three sisters, Georgia Myrtle, Ila and Eva.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 4, 2000. Burial
in Vine Bluff Cemetery, Nephi, under the direction of
Anderson Funeral Home, Nephi, Utah.
