    breaking for new hospital Monday!

Ground is being broken Monday at 1 p.m. for the new Central Valley Medical Center, located at 48 West 1500 North. The 52,000 sq. ft. hospital will contain 42,000 sq. ft. of hospital space and an attached 10,000 sq. ft. medical clinic. The new facility will be operational next fall.

Central Valley Medical Center, a not for profit 501 (c)(3) hospital and affiliate of Rural Health Management Corporation, has been located at 549 North 400 East since 1951. Due to its age, the building requires such major renovation that engineering and architectural consultants recommended that a new facility be constructed. Rural Health Management and Central Valley Medical Center Hospital Board discovered the construction of a new facility was the most cost effective alternative.

"The new facility will be almost twice the size of the existing facility and will provide the residents of Juab County with better, more efficient health care services," said Mark Stoddard, Central Valley Medical Center Administrator.

The 19 patient bed full service hospital will include updated rooms not found in the current facility such as birthing suites and monitored beds. The hospital also includes emergency care, surgery, medical respiratory, radiology and laboratory services.

Sandy based Layton Construction has been selected as the general contractor for the new building. Layton Construction teamed with Jensen Haslem Architects to implement a design build construction philosophy and maintain the cost and integrity of the structure.
