Elections Season Begins

Eureka is the only community in Juab County where there will be a primary election to eliminate candidates for city council, all other communities will select council members in the regular November election.

None of the communities have mayoral positions open for election in this city election year.

Mona, once again, has had no one file for office. Two seats are up for grabs in that community. Doran Kay and Rhett Thalman, current council members, are not seeking reelection.

A write-in campaign will decide council positions in Mona.

Levan has three candidates who have filed for two seats: Rodney C. Wankier, Alan Jay Paystrup, and Ryan Aagard.

Rocky Ridge has four candidates who have filed for two council seats: Darrell L. Allred, M. Kent Allred, Derrick Andre, and Darrell Spencer.

Nephi has five candidates who have filed for three seats. Jimmy Wilkey and Brent Bowles are seeking reelection. Richard Paxman is not seeking reelection. Rick Welch, Kent Park, and Earl Andrews have also filed for the positions.

In Eureka, Arthur Cornish, Timothy B. Hannifin Jr., June L. McNulty, Robert D. Pagnani, Darby J. Sharp, Michael Kay Sorensen, Brian C. Underwood, and Thomas C. Wallace have all filed. Two will be eliminated in the primary and three will be selected in November.
