The annexation request for Barnes Bullets has been certified and is ready to move to the next steps in the process. “We have examined the annexation petition from Randy Brooks Barnes Bullets (BCR), requesting that certain property be annexed to Mona City,” said Lyla Spencer, CMC, Mona City Recorder. The area location is 38 North Frontage Road and is east across the freeway from Mona. Spencer wrote a letter of certification which she presented to Mona City Council on Tuesday. The area requested for annexation is contiguous to the existing city limits and does not create or leave an unincorporated island or peninsula. She said that the next steps will be to publish the certification in the Times-News for three consecutive weeks, allow for a 30-day protest period after the last publication, send letters to all affected property owners—such as the school district—and hold a public hearing. “The petition contains the signatures of the owners of at least 100 percent of the private land area within the area proposed for annexation,” said Spencer. She said the land owned by the signers of the petition contains at least 100 percent of the value of all private real property located within the area proposed. The annexation request also has a plat or map which has been prepared by a licensed surveyor of the area. Randy Brooks has been designated as the contact sponsor, said Spencer. The map has been received and named the Barnes Bullet (BCR) Annexation Request. “Our records indicate there are no previously filed annexation petition requests on this property,” she said. “This letter certifies that the annexation request complies with the legal requirements and is official notification of such.”
