Madge Christensen Otteson
06/21/1928 – 10/17/2016

Madge Christensen Otteson, 88, passed away peacefully in Nephi from complications of a stroke October 17, 2016.
She was born June 21, 1928 to Marguerite Bywater and E. LeRoy Christensen at Jerusalem Ranch, Sanpete County, Utah. She was the 4th of 6 children: Ernest, Willa, Thurlyn, Stewart, and Lauritz.
She attended Moroni High School then married her high school sweetheart, David Arlo Otteson. They divorced seven years later when she was just 26 years old. She never remarried and raised her 4 children alone although she did remain very close to the Otteson family and they helped her a lot over the years. She attended "Darrel and Joes Beauty College" in Salt Lake City and opened her "Style and Fashion" beauty shop in her home in Nephi, Utah. She also worked for Catalina sewing plant in Nephi for many years. She was a devoted member of the LDS Church and a member of the Chalice Club. She liked genealogy, history, reading and National Geographic which took her to far-away places she could never otherwise go. She loved to garden and was known for her beautiful yard with pink flowers. She was a ballroom dancer and participated in dance competitions. She went to Europe with her dance group. She was a very talented gardener, seamstress, artist, and crocheted for many years.
Most of all she loved her family and was always there for any of them who needed her. She never gossiped and saw the good in everyone. She was quick-witted and funny. She could always see the bright side of life's bad situations and always made the most of what she had. To our amusement, she had a knack of being able to instantly trace the genealogy of everyone she met. She could usually find a common family or friend tie to everyone.
Survived by daughters Marilyn (Thad) Stephensen of Nephi, LynNae (Rick) Evans of Parowan; grandchildren (15), great-grandchildren (29), great-great grandchildren (7); in-laws, Joan Nielson Christensen (Stewart), Anita Otteson Phipps, Ronald J. and Joann Otteson, William W. and Renate Otteson; Many nieces and nephews.
Proceeded in death by parents, siblings, sisters-in-law Kathryn Taylor Christensen, Jean Miskin Christensen, daughter Rita Lynn Kay, son Kirk David Otteson, infant grandson Jacob LeRoy Otteson.
We want to thank Eudene Anderson, the staff and residents at Red Cliffs Assisted Living home and CVMC/Hospice for all the care, love, and companionship given to mom. She loved you all.
