"The Nephi City clean-up will return", say Nephi City
councilmen.
When that will happen is unsure though. Councilman
Kent Park said that he had been approached by people who
wanted the clean-up to come back. All council members felt
that the clean-up did a lot for the beautification of the
city and that it would eventually make a comeback.
The reason for the cancellation was reported to be
abuse of the project by certain area citizens, usually
individuals who expected the city to haul items that were
not designated as approved clean-up items.
Randy McKnight, city administrator, also reported that
89 letters had been sent to individuals who had vacant lots
that needed to be cleaned up for fire hazard reasons and
such. Four people were contacted personally.
Out of the 89 letters, all complied except seven, and
the city cleaned up those lots. All but two have paid the
city for the clean-up services. Those two have been sent a
second notice.
