(Board), Section of Environmental Analysis (SEA) is
holding Public Scoping Meetings to solicit comments on

p.m. Thursday, October 23, 2003 Gunnison City Hall 38
West Center Street Gunnison, Utah The Central Utah Rail
Project Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) will study
the benefits and impacts associated with the construction
and operation of a 43-mile rail line through the Sevier
Valley. The proposed rail line would begin at the
connection with Union Pacific Railroad's (UPRR) mainline
near Levan, Utah and end near Salina, Utah. Because the
construction and operation of this project has the
potential to result in significant environmental impacts,
the SEA has determined that the preparation of an EIS is
appropriate. The Public Scoping meetings will be informal
meetings in an open-house format during which interested
persons may ask questions about the project and the Board
's environmental review process, and advise the Board 's
representative about potential environmental effects of
the project. A Board representative will provide a brief
overview of the project at the meeting. In compliance
with the Americans with Disabilities Act, individuals
needing special accommodations during this meeting
(including auxiliary communicative aids and services)
should call Nicole Donegan at (801) 281-8892 at least 7
