Burton Hanson
Burton Lowell Hanson, age 77, passed away Oct. 9, 2002,
in Provo, Utah. He was born Apr. 10, 1925, in Leamington,
Utah, to Lowell Allison and Loreta Dutson Hanson. He married
Carma Bunker on Dec. 9, 1944, in Provo, Utah. The marriage
was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple.
Burton pursued a lifetime occupation of farming and
also an employee of the Union Pacific Railroad, where he
worked for 35 years as track inspector, and section foreman.
He was a handyman and enjoyed carpentry, building and
creating many unique projects. He served in the United
Stated Infantry during World War II, where he was stationed
in Korea in the occupational troops. He was an active member
of the LDS Church, serving as Ward Clerk, Bishopric
Counselor, Home Teacher, Scoutmaster, Stake Family History
worker and many other callings. He participated in hunting,
fishing, snowmobiling and four wheeling.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years Carma Bunker of
Nephi; 4 children, David (Deloris) Hanson of Midvale, Marcia
(Lee) Tippetts of Sutherland, Kim (Lynette) Hanson of
Leamington, and Shauna (Bill) Nelson of Delta; 18
grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Pauline
Lewis of Lindon, and Cora Crompton of Albuquerque, New
Mexico. He was preceded in death by parents, sisters,
Meleese Bishop, Ora Burke, Helen Quarenberg.
Funeral service were held Oct. 14, 2002, in the
Leamington Ward. Burial in the Delta Cemetery.
Keith Vorwaller
Keith Bowers Vorwaller, a Nephi resident for the past
several years, died Oct. 8, 2002, in the VA Hospital in Salt
Lake City.
He was born in Nephi, Utah, Mar. 26, 1926, to Mathew
Bowers and Iola McClaus Bowers. His father died and he was
raised by his mother and step-father in Erda, Utah.
Keith served in the Army, Marines and Air Force. He
earned a Masters Degree in Geology from the University of
Utah and worked for the State of Utah.
He is survived by 2 daughter and a son, Kathleen Loeny
of Salt Lake City, Robin Rhoadf of Roy, and Douglas (Karen)
Vorwaller of Portland, Oregon; 8 grandchildren; a brother,
Richard of Idaho; 2 half-sisters and a half-brother, Ileen
and Gail of Tooele, and Timothy Bowers-Irons of Nephi/St.
George.
Graveside services were held in Tooele on Oct. 11,
2002.
