Two teen-aged males were arrested and charged with burglary after money was reported missing at Sinclair Service Station at 385 South Main. The burglary took place on Thursday, Oct. 11.

In addition to solving this burglary, said Bruce Beal, Nephi City Police Detective, several other auto burglaries were solved this week.

Beal said two teens were charged with taking a large amount of money in cash and checks from the till at the Sinclair Service Station.

"Jana Keith reported that her deposit bag was missing," said Beal.

He said Keith had been working on the deposit and had it ready to take to the bank at 11 a.m.

Keith reported the two boys as having visited her store. She knew them well because they came in quite often.

When the boys visited the station, Beal said, Keith had been outside waiting on a customer. When she returned to the store she noticed the deposit drawer was open. She closed it and waited on the boys.

Later, one of the boys returned to the store to make a small purchase. Shortly afterward, Keith checked the drawer and found the deposit bag missing.

"She (Jana Keith) called the police department at this time and reported the burglary," said Beal.

Keith also reported her suspicions to officers.

In response, officers were dispatched to look for the boys, to check at a parent's home, while finger prints were made at the scene.

"The two suspects were arrested and taken to jail where they were interviewed and both confessed to Officer Orme," said Beal. "After the interviews we went to the residence of one boy and found the money, checks, and deposit bag."

Most of the money was recovered, although a small amount was not accounted for and another small amount had been spent.

The two were taken into custody and were placed in juvenile detention. They will face charges in juvenile court. One of the boys was 14 and the other 18. The 18-year old is considered an adult minor. He was not sent to juvenile detention but was booked into Juab County Jail. So one of the boys went to detention and the other stayed here, in jail.

Officer mark Sorensen also solved several auto burglaries and two other juveniles were taken to detention. They were later released pending a court appearance, said Beal.
