Nephi needs to keep an on-going up to date history of
the community even if it means hiring someone to be the city
historian.
It would be nice if someone would volunteer to do the
job for free, but, a small fee could be paid for the
work.
Chad Brough, mayor, said he had obtained a copy of the
Nephi Jubilee history, covering the years from 1851 to 1951.
There is a copy at the DUP museum in Nephi and one at the
DUP cabin at the city park.
"Winagene Eyre got a copy for us," said Brough. "After
Richard Paxman, city council member, and I looked at it we
agreed that we should add to it and should include our
current history as well as the history of the years between
1951 and 2001."
He said he did not think the job would be a difficult
one but that it could actually be interesting.
"Someone needs to go around and talk to those who
could document some of the events," he said. As some of the
town's residents who could do so were aging, it would be
important to get the work done soon.
