Nephi City Council voted to award a bid for gravel to
Nephi Sandstone.
The sealed bids were due on Monday, Sept. 11, by 5
p.m. Tuesday, bids were opened for the gravel which will be
used by the city from Oct. 1, 2000 to Oct. 1, 2001.
"Of the bids received, Nephi Sandstone is the apparent
low bidder," he said.
Blair Painter, city recorder, presented the council
with a summary of the bids received. The three bids were all
from locations within the county and were for $3, $3.50 and
$3.75 per ton.
"The city will pick up the base course at the pit
where the city trucks will be loaded by Nephi Sandstone," he
said.
The company will provide approximately 8,000 tons of
untreated road base gravel to the city for $3 per ton. The
gravel will be three-fourths inch gradation in order to meet
the standards and specifications for road and bridge
construction as set by the State of Utah.
"Compliance to state standards will be determined by
certified test results provided by Nephi Sandstone," said
Painter. "Random testing may be done by the city at the
city's discretion."
The 8,000 tons is approximate and was used for bidding
purposes only.
