Nephi City Council assigned the city staff to look at
different types of pins which could be made for sale in
Nephi as part of the Nephi City Sesquicentennial in
2001.
"Two types of pins, of a similar design, have been
suggested," said Blair Painter, city recorder. "One would be
shaped like the state of Utah and would have a mark
indicating the location of Nephi and the other would have an
outline of Juab County with a mark at the location of
Nephi."
If a prototype is made of either of the pins, it will
cost the city $45.
"We do have some time," said Painter. "The
Sesquicentennial celebration will be in September 2001."
The city staff will continue to contact pin makers to see
if another design might be better or more to the council's
liking, said Painter. He said the staff would appreciate
input from the council or from townspeople about the design
they thought would be best.
"Is there anything that we are really proud of that could
be used?" asked Kent Park, council member.
"I have had people ask if we are planning a big party to
celebrate," said Chad Brough, mayor. "We need some ideas and
some volunteers to help give ideas and to organize a program
and party."
