Clarke Lewis Wightman
1954 - 2007

Clarke Lewis Wightman, 53, was taken from his family and friends August 27, 2007, when he chose to save the lives of many who were in his path to avoid collision with on coming traffic. He truly is a hero to those families and to his own family. He was born May 5, 1954, in Provo, Utah, to Grant F. and Norma Lewis Wightman.
He loved the outdoors and fishing with his dog. He especially loved spending time with his family. He was so wonderful with animals, loved to bar-b-que, had a great sense of humor and he would light up every room he entered, loved being a grandpa, and was a master gardener. He retired from UDOT in 2001 but continued working.
Clarke married his first wife, Debi Key in 1976. They later divorced and he married the love of his life, Marianne Howard, March 21, 1987 in Nephi, Utah.
He is survived by his wife, Marianne; his mother, Norma; siblings, Linda (Cliff) Fleming, Orem, Carolyn Jensen, Albuquerque, NM, Maureen Kietz, Parowan, Utah; his children, Jessica (Jon) Rockne, Staci (Chris) Ulrich, Ryan (Codi) Miller, Danielle (Chris) Ward, Brady Lewis Wightman; 5 grandchildren, Hannah Mitchley, Banner Ward, Trevor Ward, Brinna Ward, Emry Miller; and dearly loved by Marianne's parents and family, Bill and Ruth Howard and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Grant, and a brother, Dana Grant.
Funeral services were held Saturday, September 1, 2007, at 11 a.m. in the Timpanogos Park 4th Ward Chapel, 955 North 300 East, Orem. Interment in the East Lawn Memorial Hills Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.walkerfamilymortuary.com.
