DeVon Mikkelson
Leo DeVon Mikkelsen, age 85, passed away Sept. 7,
2004. He was born January 17, 1919 in Fountain Green, Utah,
to Mikkel Anton and Mary Ann Jensen Mikkelsen. He married
Mauriece Elisha Christensen on Feb. 26, 1940 in Nephi, Utah.
Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple
in 1949.
DeVon loved hunting, animals and especially horses and
worked all his life as a rancher. One of his most memorable
experiences was when he participated with his team of horses
in the Utah Centennial Wagon Train. The wagon train trek
was from Logan to Cedar City, Utah. DeVon cared for
his wife for numerous years prior to her death. He was a
High Priest in the LDS Church.
He is survived by his children, Eddie DeVon (Nancy)
Mikkelsen of Centerville, Barbara Jean Hacking of Riverton,
Leo David (Teresa) Mikkelsen of Centerville; siblings, Norma
Blackham of Moroni, Verla Marx of Mt. Pleasant, Elva Ockey
of Nephi; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. He was
preceded in death by his wife, siblings, Wilford Anthony
Mikkelsen, Mary Almira Anderson, Inger Irene Mikkelsen,
Soren Peter Mikkelsen, Bertha Viola Tranter, Ferrel
Mikkelsen, Seymour Ross Mikkelsen, Clair Urell
Mikkelsen.
Funeral services were held Sept. 11, 2004 in the
Fountain Green LDS Chapel. Interment in the Fountain Green
Cemetery.
Francis Warner
Francis Elwood Warner, age 70, of Boise, Idaho, died
on Thursday, September 9, 2004 at his home. Fran was born
March 18, 1934 and raised in Nephi, Utah. His father died
before he was born and his mother raised him and his sister
Zoma. He graduated with honors from Juab High School.
He married Coleen Robbins in 1953, in Price, Utah.
They raised five children in Utah, moving to Idaho in 1970.
Fran and Lois (Werner) Smellage were married in 1974.
He drove truck for IML for over 25 years. After IMI,
went bankrupt he became the owner/operator of Fran Warner
Trucking until be retired in 1999. Fran was active in the
Teamsters Union and served as Shop Steward. He was an active
member of Idaho Steelhead and Salmon Unlimited, donating his
time and truck for their activities. He always supported
Lois in social justice work, actively participating and
volunteering his time and his truck.
He took each of his grandchildren in turn on long haul
trips. Most offered his grandchildren guidance on the many
fishing trips he planned. Fran enjoyed taking deep-sea
fishing trips to Washington and Mexico. He enjoyed
cooking.
He is survived by his wife, Lois; children, Richelle
(Greg) Welling, Kim (Geno) Peterson, Scott Warner, Sydney
Warner (Mike Johnston), Corinne (John) Haley, Greg Smellage;
sister, Zoma (Ann) Painter; 16 grandchildren; 9
great-grandchildren. His son, Mitch Warner, preceded him in
death.

fishing and donate your time to an organization or someone
in need.
