The Bureau of Land Management is planning to use prescribed fire September 22-26, near Mona in Juab County. Fire managers planned ignition on Sept. 22 on Goshen Canyon Road (Route 1828) that may cause some delays between Mona and Goshen. They expect the burn to take two to four days. Smoke may impact Juab and Utah Counties.

The project is designed to reduce the threat of catastrophic wildfires, improve range for wildlife and stock, as well as reduce the threat of wildfire to the community of Mona and surrounding homes.

Impacts to recreations would be minimal due to the location of the fire. Hunters should avoid the RX fire project area for their safety and the safety of the fire crews. Signs have been placed on nearby roads warning of smoke. If weather conditions are not within pre-planned parameters, the fire will be attempted at another time.
