A Mona man has died as the result of a single-car
accident which occurred on Sunday, Sept. 14, on I-15 near
the Utah/Juab County border.
Ryan Kay, 15, was southbound in the vehicle, a
Volkswagen Jetta, at 4:30 p.m. when the accident
occurred.
Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Kelly Oaks reported that
Kay was taken by Life Flight from the scene to LDS Hospital
in Salt Lake City in critical condition.
Kay later died at the facility of injuries sustained
in the accident.
UHP dispatcher at the Salt Lake City headquarters of
the Highway Patrol said the accident was a single car
rollover but a reason for the accident was not listed and
Oaks was at a two-week training session so was unavailable
for comment.
There were four other individuals in the car at the
time of the accident. No other critical injuries were
reported
