Rowena Sanderson
Julia Rowena Van Ausdal Openshaw Sanderson, age 75,
passed away Sept. 8, 2003 in Nephi, Utah.
She was born Sept. 1, 1928 in Price, Utah, to Julius
Arthur and Othelia Bradford Van Ausdal. She married Gerald
Openshaw, he passed away in 1959. She married Oris
Sanderson, he passed away in 1973.
She was a beautician and a member of the Lady Elks.
She loved to cook for her family.
She is survived by her two children, Gerald Paul
(Marianne) Openshaw of Eureka, and Susan (Terry) Sperry of
Nephi; 5 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren; sisters,
Rhoda (David) Strasburg, Shirley (Ray) Skinner, and Joan
(Shirl) Pettro; brothers, Albert (Ida), John (Shirley), and
Bill (DeAnne) Van Ausdal. She was preceded in death by her
parents, 2 sisters, Jean Kaze and Beth Larsen; 2 brothers,
Dean and Max Van Ausdal.
In lieu of flowers or money please make donations to
the CVMC Hospice and CVMC Home Health in Nephi.
Rowena donated her body to the University of Utah to
help further medical studies.
A memorial service was held at the Nephi City Park at
on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2003.
