Spencer Bowles
Spencer Leo Bowles, age 88, passed away Sept. 5, 2002, in
Nephi, Utah.
He was born May 3, 1914, in Nephi to Leo and Bertha
Bowers Bowles. He married Roxie Craig Oct. 15, 1936, in
Provo, Utah. The marriage was later solemnized in the Manti
LDS Temple Oct. 15, 1937.
Spencer finished concrete for many years before owning
the Fros-T-Freez for 20 years. But his first love was horses
and working with cattle on the ranch.
He is survived by his wife, Roxie of Nephi; children,
Barbara Stratton, Donna Kelsey and Bevan Bowles; 15
grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 8
great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Lenora Davis and Mildred
Greenhalgh; brother, Charlie Bowles. He was preceded in
death by a son, Boyd; a brother, Max.
Funeral services were held Sept. 9, 2002, in the Nephi
North Stake Center. Interment in the Nephi City Cemetery.
Itha Gadd
Itha Lovina Parkes Gadd, age 94, passed away Sept. 5,
2002, in Orem, Utah.
She was born March 27, 1908, in Nephi, Utah, to Thomas
Henry George and Goldie Itha Bigler Parkes. She married
Alfred LeRoy Gadd Aug. 7, 1935, in the Manti LDS Temple. He
passed away Feb. 25, 1993.
She attended Utah State University and received a
Bachelor of Science Degree from Brigham Young University.
She taught elementary school in Nephi for many years with an
emphasis on reading. Active in the LDS Church she held many
leadership and teaching positions. She served with her
husband Fred as a worker in the Manti Temple.
She is survived by her children, Carol Kingsolver of
Provo, Dr. Galen N. Gadd of Orem, Margaret J. Brady of
Littleton, Colorado, James Fred Gadd of Los Angeles,
California; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 2
sisters, Margarett Madsen of Lake Oswego, Oregon, and Vera
Deane Blackburn of St. George; a brother, George B. Parkes
of Riverside, California. She was preceded in death by
granddaughter; four sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services were held Sept. 9, 2002, at the
Anderson Funeral Home, Nephi. Interment in Vine Bluff
Cemetery, Nephi, Utah.
Grant Price
John Grant "Chuck" Price, age 89, passed away Sept. 8,
2002, in Grantsville Utah.
He was born June 24, 1913, in Nephi, Utah, to Joseph
Richard and Annie Ingram Price. He married Sumantha Grace
Seamons March 24, 1952, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Grace
preceded him in death Sept. 14, 1987.
Grant was an Army Veteran of WWII, member of the
1913th Aviation Engineer Battalion, serving 3 years in the
American and Asiatic Pacific Theaters. He was an avid
gardener and farmer. He enjoyed the outdoors through hunting
and fishing. Grant was employed as a farmer, painter,
laborer, and as a Crossing Guard for Nephi City.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter-day Saints.
He is survived by two sons and two daughters, Clint
(Jeannette) Price of Grantsville, Allen (Diane) Price of
Stansbury, Cleta (Ray) Martinez of West Valley City, and
Carla (Roger) McNicol of Draper; 22 grandchildren; and 4
great-grandchildren; and one brother, Merron Price of
Nephi.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother
and 5 sisters. A viewing will be held at the Anderson
Funeral Home Thursday, Sept. 12, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at the Nephi LDS 5th
Ward Chapel, 345 East 500 North, starting at 11:00 a.m.,
with a viewing 1 hour prior to services. Interment will be
at Vine Bluff Cemetery, Nephi, Utah.
