A Provo man was killed early Sunday morning when the
vehicle he was driving collided head-on with a coal
transport truck near Levan.
UHP Sgt. Paul Mangelson said Paul Spencer LeFevre, 23,
Provo, died at the scene as a result of the accident.
"LeFevre was in the wrong lane of traffic when the
collision occurred," said Mangelson. However, the cause for
the man's vehicle being in the wrong lane had not been
determined.
"Our investigation is still continuing," said
Mangelson.
The double-trailer coal truck was northbound,
fully-loaded, on U-28 at 2:24 a.m. when the accident
occurred. The truck belonged to Robinson's based in
Salina.
Mangelson said LeFevre was traveling southbound in a
small pick-up truck.
The driver of the coal transport truck was not injured
but was taken by East Juab Ambulance to Central Valley
Medical Center for observation.
"He wasn't physically injured but had suffered
emotional trauma," said Mangelson.
Greg Kelsey, Utah Highway Patrol trooper, was the
investigating officer. Kelsey was off-duty on Monday and
Tuesday.
