The Juab County Boating Facilities Park at Mona Reservoir
are nearly complete and the project should be finished
within the next two weeks.
Mike Seely, county administrator, said most of the
work was done, or nearly so, and it would not be a problem
to finish the project if all the work was done on
schedule.
"The concrete boat ramp is poured and rip-rap has been
placed," said Seely. "The concrete sidewalks have been
completed, and the fire rims have been placed and concrete
poured around them."
The sites for the picnic tables have been prepared and
are ready for the tables to be installed.
"The parking area is compacted and is ready to
asphalt," said Seely.
The project was approved for funding by the Utah
Division of Parks and Recreation and the Utah Division of
Wildlife Resources in February of this year.
"Our grant application requested a total of $90,000
for the construction of a sanitary public toilet, a concrete
motorboat access ramp, and a parking area with asphalt
paving, a courtesy dock, fire rings, picnic tables and trash
receptacles replacement," said Seely.
Of the total amount requested, he said, the
Wallop-Breaux Motorboat Access fund contributed $67,500 with
another $11,250 provided by the Utah Division of Parks and
Recreation.
Juab County provided equipment, manpower and road base
equivalent to $11,250 as their share of the project.
"Due to the number of proposed projects and the
limited funds available, we were not able to receive the
funds for the access road improvements," said Seely.
The county can apply for the funds for that part of
the project again this fall to be considered for 2001.
