Nephi Kiwanis club's current President, John Gledhill, along with Mark Jones the upcoming President and Neil Cook the President elect presented checks totaling $4,500 to local elementary schools for the purchase of library books for the schools.

Several months ago it was brought to the attention of the club members that with the recent realignment of elementary grades, there were some elementary grades that are without sufficient age related library books. After hearing this, the club's membership elected to do something to help. "This is exactly what the Kiwanis club is all about" state Mr. Gledhill, "enhancing the life, education and well being of children." "This was a great opportunity to help the school and at the same time bring the Circus to town, a good family oriented activity" Mr. Gledhill stated that "a quick survey of the community told us that it would be a risky project, as the community had circuses in the past that were quite disappointing." After careful review by members and testimonials from other communities, President Gledhill formed a committee to bring the circus to Nephi. The circus, as it turned out was a great circus, as good as any in the world. Those who attended were not disappointed. Because of the efforts of the club members and others who were assigned from the school, the community, advertisers and volunteers, the circus was a great success.

Those on the committee were, John Samuleson, Travis Ludlow, Lori Elbert, Lori Jones, Jacque Frazee and John Gledhill.

After expenses the circus cleared $3,900. "Without the help of the advertisers, it would have been much less" explained Mr. Gledhill."

At a recent Kiwanis club meeting, Neil Cook made a motion that the club increases the amount from $3,900 to $4,500, thus giving Mona Elementary, Nebo View and Red Cliffs, each $1,500. The motion carried and the Principles were invited to attend the August meeting to receive the checks.

All three elementary principles, Norm Wall from Mona, Steve Paulsen, Nebo View and Janet Ware, Red Cliffs were present.
