A five-year old boy died in a one-car freeway accident on
Aug. 2, 2004.
Hoby Metz, Utah Highway Patrol Sgt., said the victim was
Spencer Flanary age five.
Driver Of the vehicle was his mother, Silvana
Flanary.
The accident occurred at 11:26 p.m., said Metz.
"A southbound Chev Suburban carrying a family of six
rolled over on I-15 southbound at mile marker 198.5," said
Metz.
Flanary, the driver, fell asleep, the vehicle drifted
into the median, the driver awoke, and over corrected,
coming back onto the roadway and rolling several times.
"All occupants were restrained except for the five-year
old boy, who was sleeping on the back seat," said Metz. "As
the vehicle rolled, the glass window broke and the boy was
ejected."
Metz said the vehicle then rolled on top of the child and
killed him instantly.
UHP Trooper Korey Wright was the investigating
officer.
