The roof on the Old Gym Recreation Center will be
repaired and upgraded by the Ernest Wilson
Company.
The decision to add a new protective coating on top
of polyurethane foam was made at council meeting on
Tuesday.
Randy McKnight, city administrator, said the proposal
was that the job would be done for the sum of $18,819 plus
$1.86 per board foot for tear up areas.
"If you decide to have them spray Utah Foam Products
system 125-4S polyurethane and coat over the edge of the
North dome area to stop bat infiltration will cost an
additional $665," said McKnight.
The roof will be washed and cleaned using concentrate
cleaner made for that purpose, he said. Then wet or
saturated areas will be cut out and the roof allowed to dry.
This portion of the project will be the section that will
need to be paid for at the board foot price.
The new polyurethane foam insulation will then be
added.
Three gallons per 100 square feet of area of acrylic
elastomeric coating will be added to achieve a 25 to 28 dry
mil finish.
"It will be pearl white in color," said McKnight.
The old roof, which was the same type of roofing
material, has lasted 22 years, said McKnight, so the
investment on the part of the council, to decide to go with
a roof coating of a similar type, was wise.
