Special law enforcement units will be conducting a state-wide seat belt check Aug. 27 through Sept. 3. Motorists will be spot checked for seat belt and for child restraint use in accordance with state laws.

The seat belt check held during the Memorial Day weekend resulted in over 3,000 citations being issued for seat belts and 325 child restraint citations.

The program is sponsored by the Utah Highway Safety Office.
