Nephi City voted to lower the property tax collections
in the city if the fire district levied property tax
collections.
"The resolution you would consider adopting," said
Randy McKnight, city administrator, "would indicate the
city's intent to lower property tax collections by the
amount of the Nephi Fire Department budget for in-city fire
protection."
As the fire district organization has worked on a fire
district budget, there has been an assumption that the
communities would lower their property tax collections if
the fire district established a tax levy.
Mona, Levan and Rocky Ridge councils have already
passed similar resolutions, said McKnight, as has Juab
County Commission. Eureka and Nephi were the last to vote on
the resolution.
"The West Desert communities are not incorporated,"
said McKnight, "however, they will be part of the county
levy and the county has already agreed to lower property tax
by the amount of the budget used for fire protection."
