John Lynn Brough
1935-2021

John Lynn Brough loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away July 23, 2021. He was born September 24, 1935 in Nephi, Utah to Malon Macfarland and Inez Tervort Brough. He married his sweetheart and love of his life, Diane Hannifin, February 12, 1960 in the Manti, Utah Temple. They were the parents of three children.

Lynn graduated from Juab High School. He served a two-year Spanish American Mission in Texas and New Mexico. He graduated from Brigham Young University in 1964 with a BS degree in engineering. He was employed by Sperry-Utah Company, later by the State Road Commission as design engineer, and by a private engineering firm, then worked as the plant engineer at NRP in Nephi, and ended his career as the Facilities Director at Utah Valley State College.

He served 23 years and retired from the Utah National Guard. He was a member of the American Legion Post 1. He was a past president of the Kiwanis Club.

Lynn was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He demonstrated his commitment by serving diligently in various callings including the High Council and serving with Diane as ordinance worker in the Manti Temple. He had many hobbies and talents including singing, painting and watching and enjoying BYU football and basketball.

He is survived by his children, Chad (Lisa) Brough, Darren (Rachelle) Brough, Lisa (Jeff ) Bowles, 12 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to express appreciation and gratitude to Eudene and Gary Anderson and staff of Red Cliffs Assisted Living, Dr. Rosenbeck, and the 7th Ward Bishop and Relief Society.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 28th at 11:00 am at the 7th Ward building (222 S. 100 E.) Nephi, UT. Viewing one hour prior to the services.


Kenneth Clyde Kay
1954 ~ 2021

Our loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle, Kenneth Clyde Kay, age, 67, passed away peacefully at home on July 20, 2021 after a valiant and courageous battle with lung cancer. He was surrounded by family.

Kenneth was born on April 1, 1954, in Nephi, Utah to Clyde Donnell and Colleen Onieta Worwood Kay. He was the second of six children.

He married Janna Newton on August 16, 1974. They welcomed a daughter, Shanan Ella Kay, on March 30, 1976. They later divorced. He married Carolyn Alice Goodin on May 26, 2002.

He was a coal miner for more than 40 years. He worked at the Deer Creek Mine in Huntington Canyon and later at the Genesis Mine in Rock Springs, Wyoming. In between he worked at Home Depot.

Kenneth enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, camping, and most anything outdoors. He loved to ride his motorcycle, 4-wheeler, and side-by-side. He loved being with his wife, family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, several aunts, and uncles, 1 nephew, Karl Scott Kay and 2 nieces, Octavia Bell and Kaylee Koleen Anderson.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn, of Rock Springs, WY; daughter, Shanan (Lyn) Bailey of Layton, UT; stepson, Boyd (Jamie) McFarland of Smithfield, UT; grandchildren Jaden and Jaxon Bailey, and Madison Smith; brothers: Karl (Gail) Kay of Huntington, UT; Terry (Lori) Kay of Huntington, UT; Gordon Kay (Bill Chronic) of Wilton Manor, FL; sisters: Sandy (Terry) McArthur of Huntington, UT; Susan (Steve) Bell of Rock Springs, WY; many nieces, nephews and cousins that will miss him dearly.

A Celebration of Life was held at the Huntington 1st ward Church at 11:0 am on July 24, 2021, located at 115 South 400 East in Huntington, UT.

He was interred in the Castle Dale cemetery in Castle Dale, UT located at 650 North Center in Castle Dale, UT.
