Garland James Taylor
1943 ~ 2018

Garland James Taylor passed away on Thursday, June 28, 2018, at his home in Nephi, Utah.

Garland was born on February 23, 1943, in Hurricane, Utah to Ina and Clarence Taylor. He was the first of 5 children. Garland lived most of his life in the St. George area and worked for St. George City Recreation Department as a grounds keeper at their Red Hills Golf Course. He took great pride in his work. In 2009 he moved to Nephi, Utah to be closer to family.

Garland was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a strong testimony of the gospel. His favorite calling was that of greeter and handing out programs to ward members. He loved visiting with people and had a kind word for everyone.

Garland is survived by his brothers, Bruce Taylor Hall (Darla), Nephi; Richard Taylor (Karlene), Layton; and his sister Evelyn Durfee (Charles), South Salt Lake and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Glennis Williams and Viola Taylor.

The family would like to thank physicians and caregivers for the kind and tender care they have given Garland.

Graveside services will be held at the Hurricane Cemetery on Saturday, July 7 at 10:00 a.m. Family and friends are welcome. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Metcalf Mortuary, 435-673-4221.
