Darwin Lee
1933-2006
Darwin Lee, age 73, passed away July 12, 2006, at his
home in Levan from complications of congestive heart
failure.
Darwin was born June 22, 1933 in Cannonville, Utah, to
Powell and Cleo Twitchell Lee.
In his youth, the family lived in Jerome, Idaho.
Darwin left home at age 14 to work. In 1951 at age 18,
he married Janean Carsey, and together they had a daughter,
Vicki Joy. They were later divorced. Darwin was
married and divorced several times, but the woman he said he
would have spent the rest of his life with was his wife
Martha Lee Pennington whom he married in 1976. She
died of cancer when they had been married a short
time.
Darwin drove truck for a living and worked for
Albertson's out of Boise, Idaho. He lived in the Salt Lake
area and worked for Praxair until he retired. He moved
to Levan, Utah, in 1998.
Darwin was an avid fisherman and hunter and especially
loved venison. He loved to drive around up in the
hills and travel down roads where he had never been before,
just to see what was there. He enjoyed cooking up
something delicious for supper in his crockpot. He was
a caregiver, always giving freely and taking care of people,
especially his family. He was kind and gentle and
loved animals, especially his poodles whom he always
referred to as his "kids." He loved cold fried
chicken. He was an active member of the Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Darwin was
preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Darald; his
wife, Martha Lee; daughter, Vicki; and his beloved pets,
Little Guy, Sammy, and Pogo. He is survived by eight
brothers and sisters: Levenard, DelRay, Geraldine, Letha,
Harriet, Larene, Lucille, and Butch (Erwin); his grandson,
Kristopher; his "kids," Red and Sarah; many nieces, nephews,
cousins, and good friends.
Special thanks to all the nurses who helped take care
of Darwin. A memorial service was held on Tuesday,
July 18th at 6:00 p.m. at the Levan LDS Church.
Interment will be in the Payson City Cemetery.
