Two local boys were injured in a rollover accident in
Salt Creek Canyon on Sunday afternoon.
Critically injured was Colton Baird, 17, Fountain
Green, driver of the vehicle. Also injured was Jade
Greenhalgh, 17, Nephi.
Hoby Metz, Utah Highway Patrol Sgt., said the two were
driving toward Nephi in a Toyota Tundra pick-up truck which
belonged to Calvin Baird, father of Colton, and a teacher at
Juab High School.
"The vehicle went off the side of the road, came back
onto the roadway then went off again rolling and ejecting
the two young men," said Metz.
He said Kory Wright, UHP trooper, was the
investigating officer. Wright was out of town on
Tuesday.
Metz said Baird and Greenhalgh were both taken by
ambulance to Central Valley Medical Center in Nephi.
Greenhalgh was then taken by medical helicopter to a north
Utah hospital.
"The accident occurred at 5:30 p.m. near the opening
of the canyon between mile marker 35 and 36, on SR 132 East"
said Metz.
He said that Greenhalgh suffered a broken back and
possible paralysis in the accident and Baird received chest
injuries and a broken collarbone.
