![]() PIONEER DAY ROYALTY The Royalty for the Mona Pioneer Day celebration are from left to right, King, Joey Harris, son of Steve and Janette Harris, Queen, Cindy Tycksen, daughter of Kevin and Stacy Tycksen, Prince, Kyler Robertson, son of Richard and Paulette Robertson, and Princess, Autumn Kay, daughter of Doran and Susan Kay. Mona City will be holding their Pioneer Day Celebration on Saturday, July 24 at the Mona City Park. Everyone is encouraged to attend and join in the festivities. Starting at 8:00 a.m. will be a flag raising ceremony. The parade begins at 10:00 a.m. Bathing Beauties will be included in the parade. Parade line-up will be at 9:30 at 300 South 100 East. The parade will proceed down Main Street at 300 South. The DUP store opens at 10:00 a.m. featuring handmade crafts and goodies. Remember: the DUP needs donations for their craft and bake sale.Tickets for the quilt raffle are $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00. Tickets can be purchased from Dorothy Nielsen, 623-0258 or JaNae Kay, 623-2324. If you would like to donate to the raffle contact Jody at 623-3359, cell 801-367-7897. At 11:00 a.m. the variety program starts and the snack stand opens. The snack stand is a fundraiser for Mona Elementary School. Raffle tickets also go on sale. Rides and games go from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. From 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. the DUP Museum will be open. There will be a watermelon eating contest at 3:00. Kids races start at 3:30, ages 1-12. Drawing for the big prizes begins at 4:00. At 5:30 dinner will start. Howard Stubbs will be cooking barbecue pork, mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetables, and ice cream for dessert! $5.00 per ticket. Purchase tickets in advance so they can get a count of how many people will be eating. Purchase tickets at the City Offices during office hours: Monday and Wednesday, 12-5 p.m., Friday, 9-2 p.m. A western dance will start at 5:30 p.m. Come kick up your heels until the fireworks start at dusk.
