Raymond Pay
Richard Raymond Pay, age 91, passed away July 23, 2003
at his home in Nephi, Utah.
He was born Feb. 18, 1912 in Nephi to Jesse and Lettie
M. Sidwell Pay. He married Norma Crowther Nov. 16, 1932 in
the Manti LDS Temple.
He was a member of the LDS Church. He was raised in
Nephi and owned a dry land wheat farm in Dog Valley. He
loved farming. He helped organize the first Jeep Patrol
Search and Rescue organization. He was president of Wildlife
Federation for three years. He loved the outdoors and was an
avid sportsman. He loved hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife Norma of Nephi; three
children, Arlene (Lavell) Hone of Benjamin, Cliff (Dee Ann)
Pay of Woods Cross, and Becky (Keith) Sperry of Nephi; 10
grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 4
great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his
parents, one brother and three sisters.
Funeral services were held July 28, 2003 in the Nephi
3rd Ward. Interment in Vine Bluff Cemetery, Nephi, Utah.
Reese D. Payne
Graveside services were held on Wednesday, July 23,
2003 for Reese D. Payne, son of Andy and Amber Payne. Reese
was stillborn on July 20, 2003.
He is survived by his parents of Sandy, Utah;
grandparents, Marjorie Garrett and Marlow Blackett of Nephi,
Larry Garrett of Provo, and Val and Bernice Payne of
Cleveland, Utah; great-grandparents, Alice Rollins and
Nadine Blackett, both of Nephi, Lee and Hazel McMullin of
Cleveland, and June Garrett of Provo.
Wallace Sperry Tolley
Wallace Sperry Tolley, passed away July 27, 2003 at
the age of 89. Wallace was born June 21, 1914 in Nephi,
Utah, to Sarah Sophia Sperry and Charles Roscoe Tolley.
He served a mission to Eastern Canada from 1939 to
1941 and graduated from Utah State University. He taught in
the secondary schools of Utah for 41 years. He enjoyed
working with student government. On June 9, 1950, he married
Beth Webb Francom in the Manti LDS Temple.
Wallace was a very active member of the Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving as a member of
his ward bishopric and many other callings. He also served
as a temple worker in the Salt Lake Temple and as a guide at
Welfare Square.
He is survived by one son and four daughters: Grant
(Donna Lee) Tolley, Myrna (Richard) Shepherd, Janette
(Ronald) Wayman, Karen (Brian) Oborn and Leslie (Alan)
Rigby. He is also survived by 28 grandchildren and twin
great-granddaughters. Wallace was preceded in death by his
wife Beth, his brother Allan and sister Irene.
A viewing will be held Thursday, July 31, from 6 to 8
p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, and from 10
to 10:45 a.m. prior to the funeral services, which will be
held on August 1 at 11 a.m., at the Richards Ward, 855 East
Garfield Avenue. Interment will be at Vine Bluff Cemetery,
1200 North 400 East, Nephi, Utah.
