  • Nephi City Police Department gives update on residential burglaries

There have been residential burglaries in the past few months that a lot of Nephi citizens may not be aware of and that is because they have been in Mona and Levan. The MO (method of operation) has been the same as most of the Nephi burglaries.

We do know that there are or have been several individuals or groups doing a lot of the burglaries and we have made several arrests throughout our investigations. There is still one group that we have yet to prosecute and have had a difficult time getting any evidence against. They have made a couple of "slips" recently that is proving to be their demise. Thanks to technology, hidden cameras etc. And concerned citizens.

Investigators from Nephi City Police Department and the Juab County Sheriffs Office have been working in unison and following several different approaches in the past weeks.

Until and after these suspects are brought to justice, Nephi City and Juab County Law enforcement officials ask and advise the following; please always lock and secure valuables, do not leave valuables in vehicles. If you are leaving your home for any amount of time, tell a neighbor or friend so they can watch and call the police department so we can get an extra patrol on your home. Watch for suspicious activity or people and call the police if you think something or someone is out of place or suspicious. Watch your neighbor's homes and your neighborhood. This is our community and we need to protect it.

Of all the burglaries where there has been forced entry and safes taken and broken into, there has not been one call to police about anything suspicious. Several of these homes and safes have been violently broken into in the middle of town, in daylight, and in close proximity to the homes. So why has no one heard anything?

Nephi is, without a doubt, one of the best communities in this great state. Unfortunately, we have bad guys (and gals) that can't make it on their own so they prey off those who can. There will always be crime in our town but if we work together as a community there will be far less.

If you have any information on the burglaries or any crime that has been or is about to be committed, please call the police at 623-1626 or sheriffs office at 623-1344. All calls are confidential and you can remain anonymous.

If you are involved in the recent burglaries and do not want to spend the next few Christmas's in prison and without your family, then contact investigators. Arrangements could possibly be made with the County Attorneys office to keep you from losing a lot of your life in a very small space. *(hint)....you know what's about to happen -- knock, knock…who's there???? Just kidding -- I Wont Knock!
