Mona City Council members adopted the budget for 2003
and amended the 2002 budget.
Everd Squire, the new treasurer for the community,
spent countless hours working on the budget, said Bryce
Lynn, mayor, in order to meet the deadlines set by law.
"Everd (Squire) and I visited Greg Ogden, our CPA, and
conferred with him about the budget," said Lynn.
The budget for the fiscal year of 2003 was set at
$75,000.
The figure had been set higher, at $80,000, but Doran
Kay, council member, suggested the figure be changed.
"We had to make several changes to the 2002 budget,"
said Squire.
Extra money had to be added to the budget for the
irrigation secondary water system payment.
It was also necessary to move some money from areas
where the budget allotted to them was not needed to places
where there was a deficit in funds.
"This is common practice amount accountants," said
Squire.
It is legal to move money from one fund to cover
another as long as, in the end, the budget balances. There
are time constraints imposed by law dealing with the time
such transfers can be made.
"The celebration in the park is a little over budget,"
said Squire.
Council member, Doran Kay, also wondered if the state
might be requested to help pay the $1,000 for 43 hours of
mowing of city streets.
"I will check with Tyler Painter, who did the mowing,
and with the state and then we can made a determination on
what we learn," said Rick Schnurr, council member.
