Erma Newton

Erma Shepard Newton, age 89, passed away July 13, 2002, in Spanish Fork, Utah.

She was born March 24, 1913, in Mona, Utah, to Edward and Katie Tolley Shepard. She married Percy Burdell Newton Nov. 15, 1933. The marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. He died Apr. 13, 1986.

Erma was a homemaker all her life. She served her Ward in the Sunday School, MIA, Primary and Relief Society organizations and was dance director.

She is survived by one son and two daughters, Gordon (Pat) Newton, and Veda Rae (Bryce) Scoffield, all of Mona, and Cola Mae (Vern) Jensen of Payson; 14 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Reva (Evan) Bryan of Mona. She was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Burdell Newton; six brothers and 4 sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2002, in the Mona 2nd Ward. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the services. The interment will be in the Mona Cemetery.
