Davis Chicken Creek Gypsum Mine Manti-La Sal National Forest Ferron/PrIce and Sanpete Ranger Districts Juab County, Utah Elaine Zieroth, Forest Supervisor, has decided to approve the Plan of Operations for a sypsum quarry operated by H.E. Davis & Sons Construction Company. The quarry will extend onto National Forest System lands onto the Davis #3 and #4 mining claims. The quarry is located in Chicken Creek along the west flank of the San Pitch Mountains in Section 34, T14S., R 1 E, SLM, Juab County, Utah, on a portion of the Uinta National forest that is administered by the Sanpete Ranger District of the Manti-LaSal National Forest. The Decision Notice/Finding of No Significant Impact and Environmental Assessment (EA) are available for review at the Sanpete Ranger District Office in Ephraim, Utah, and the Forest Supervisor's Office in Price, Utah. The decision to approve the Plan of Operations involved selection of Alternative B, wbich was analyzed in the EA. The Plan of Operations includes mitigations that minimize the environmental effects. This decision is subject to appeal pursuant to Forest Service regulations at 36 CPR 215.7. Any written appeal must be postmarked or received by the Appeal Deciding Officer within 45 days of the publication of this notice.
