Prize money totaling $34,223.45 was awarded in the seven
rodeo competitive events at the 66th annual Ute Stampede in
Nephi.
The largest single prize went to Ty Joslin in the Bull
Riding Event with a purse of $1,677.32 for the first place
ride with a score of 82. The arena record is 84.
There was a tie for second place in the event with Kenny
Drayton and Shawn Shepherd each with a score of 81 and each
winning a prize of $1,092.80. A three way split for third
and fourth places occurred with Derald Riche, Casey
Shepherd, and Brent Vincent turning in a score of 78 points
each and winning a purse of $406.62 each.
In the Calf Roping event, Rick Kieckhefer turned in a
time of 8.8 seconds to take first place and win a purse of
$1,617.47. Second place went to Chet Keetch with a time of
9.0 for a $1,338.60 purse, third went to Nate Baldwin with a
tie of 9.2 for a win of $1,059.72, Kyle Kosoff and Brent
Lewis each completed the event in 9.4 seconds and won
$621.41 each for a tie for fourth, and Jared Arave placed
sixth with a time of 9.5 to win $278.87.
In the Steer Wrestling event, Alex Hover had a time of
6.5 seconds to take first place and collect a prize of
$1,448.69. Craig Smith placed second with a time of 6.7
seconds to win $1,198.92, third was Cody Poulsen with a time
of 11.9 seconds to win $949, Levi Rosser placed fourth with
a time of 12.3 to win $699.37, Tom Lewis placed fifth with a
time of 12.9 to win $449.59 and Greg Hunter placed sixth
with a score of 14.0 and won $249.77.
Kevin Small won first place in the Saddle Bronc event
with a score of 80 and claim $1,440.45 in prize money. Ira
Slagowski and Marty Trapp both had a score of 79 and a purse
of $938.47 each, Ross Wines had a score of 78 and won
$523.80, and K.C. Huffaker and Lance J. Miller both scored
74 to place sixth and win a purse of $109.12 each.
Eric R. Nielsen placed first in the Bareback competition
and won $1,152.36. Ted Osman scored 75 and won second place
and a purse of $873, Shawn Dudley took third place and won
$628.56, Neil Parkinson won fourth with a score of 72 to
claim $419.04, Clay Kirkham had a score of 69 for fifth
place and a prize of $244.44, and Jimmy Frandsen had a score
of 68 for sixth place and a prize of $174.60.
In the Team Roping event, Doyle Gellerman and Bucky
Campbell placed first with a time of 6.1 seconds and won
$903.67 each, Dustin Durfee DVM and Coby Drake had a time of
6.3 seconds to take second place and win $747.86 each, David
Adams and Jade McAllister had a time of 6.9 to win $592.06
each and take third, Beau Hutchison and Brock Andrus had a
time of 7.0 and won $436.25 each to place fourth, Dustin
Gurney and Chancey Spencer had a time of 7.4 for fifth place
and a prize of $280.45, and Jason Eiguren and Jake Hannum
earned a time of 7.7 seconds and won $155.809 each.
In the Women's Barrel Race, Dolli Lautaret had a time of
17.62 to win a prize of $940.46 for first place. Shelley
Martin had a time of 17.73 for second place and a purse of
$806.11, Barbara Merrill had a time of 17.81 for third place
and a prize of $671.76, Julie Herman-Ekstrom and Norma Wood
each earned a time of 17.83 and took a fourth/fifth place
spilt to win $515.01 each; Chrissy Van earned a score of
17.84 for sixth place and a prize of $356.27, Joelle Watkins
and Sue Smith both had a time of 17.88 for a seventh/eighth
split and a prize of $233 each, Caitie Duarte had a time of
17.89 to take ninth place a win $134.35, and Shauna Dannelly
had a time of 17.90 for tenth and a prize of $89.56.
