Maurice Tolley, former member of the Ute Stampede Committee, has the honor of being selected by the Nephi Lions Club to be Grand Marshal of the Ute Stampede Mammoth Parade on July 14, 2000.

A life-long resident of Nephi, he is a veteran of WWII. He is a graduate of BYU and worked as a merchant for 40 years on Main Street in Nephi. Maurice has given many years of service as Nephi City Council member, Juab County Commissioner, Chamber of Commerce member, Jaycee President, Nephi Nebo Posse member and president, Nephi Lions Club member, and Ute Stampede Committee member for 33 years.

He and his wife of 50 years, JoAnn, and their children, Teresa T. Bean, Scott, Todd and Mike have always enjoyed the hard work and fun times that come with the Ute Stampede celebration.

Working as a team, he knew the committee members would have their given duties completed. Making sure the fairgrounds were in ship-shape condition was always one of his top priorities.

I am grateful to the Nephi Lions Club for being selected for the honor of being parade marshal, he said.
