Gerald Cooper
1932 ~ 2016

Gerald Mack Cooper, 83, of Ephraim, Utah was reunited with his parents and siblings on Friday, 17 June 2016. He passed away quietly and peacefully in Provo from respiratory failure.
Gerald was the youngest of five children, born 17 August 1932 in Nephi to John Victor Cooper and Edna Blanche Draper. He learned to work hard on the family farm. As his dad's "Pal," he spent many early and long hours milking the cows. He served two years in the Army Corps of Engineers, in the South Pacific. Married Zina Beth Phillips in 1956, later divorced. He was the only one in his family to go to college, graduating from Utah State University with a MS degree in food sciences. His career took him to the Chicago area where he worked for Morton Salt Company for over 30 years. He married his sweetheart, Coral Joyce Wischmann, on 25 January 1973 and they were later sealed in the Manti LDS Temple. Upon retirement he moved to Ephraim.
Gerald was loving and extremely dutiful. Many times he took his boys to help someone move, weed the church farm, or perform other acts of service. He created many lasting family memories as he took his boys to reunions and family vacations. Rarely did he miss a month of home teaching and always had an eye for helping others. Even in his last days at the hospital he had a cute sense of humor and brought a smile to those around him.
His sons (and wives) are: Glen (Annette), from first marriage; Chris (Teresa); Galen (Tina); Greg (Dione); and Gordon (Laura). In addition, he is loved by fourteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Friday June 24, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Ephraim 1st Ward Chapel (450 North 200 West). Viewings will be held Thursday June 23, 2016 form 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. prior to services both at the church. Interment in the Vine Bluff Cemetery in Nephi, UT.
