Loren G. Stephensen
1911-2007
Loren G. Stephensen, age 95, died Monday, June 4, 2007, in Mesquite, Nevada. He was born November 26, 1911 to James P. and Julia Blair Stephensen in Levan, Utah. On August 24, 1936 he married Mary Sorena Aagard in Salt Lake City, Utah. On June 27, 1945 they were sealed in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. She preceded him in death on March 10, 1994.
Loren grew up in Levan, farming in his early years in Levan and in Idaho Falls. He later worked for Jensen Brothers Construction in Salt Lake City, then operating his own trucking business in Levan. In 1955, he moved to Henderson, Nevada, where he worked at Timet for more than 20 years. He then worked with his son in his son’s concrete business.
Loren loved to work and was always busy enjoying rodeos, hunting, fishing, riding four wheelers and snowmobiles. He enjoyed visiting the cabin on Cedar Mountain that he and his son built. He served faithfully in many church callings and as a home teacher.
Survivors include one son, LaRell (Amy) of Logandale, NV; daughter-in-law, Nedra Stephensen of Las Vegas; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother and two sisters, Fauntella Gollaher of Levan, UT; Glen (Gwen) of Levan, UT and Blanche Hardy of St. George, UT. He was preceded in death by a son, Mark, and one granddaughter-in-law, Heidi.
Services were held Saturday, June 9, 2007 at 1 p.m. at the Levan, Utah, LDS Chapel. Interment in the Levan City Cemetery.
Lois Elaine Valtinson
1945-2007
Lois Elaine Valtinson, 62, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to all, passed away peacefully in her home Wednesday, June 6, 2007 in Nephi, Utah.
She was born May 9, 1945 in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, to Carl and LaVon Holm.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren, the outdoors, camping, fishing, crocheting, and visiting friends. She dedicated her life to making people laugh and helping others. She loved cooking and Christmas time. She had a smile that would last a lifetime. She was a loving, kind, caring, and wonderful person.
She is survived by her best friend and companion, Gary Nelson of Nephi; daughters, Kathy (Robert) Chase of West Jordan, Yvonne (Cory) Holm, and Yvette (Bob) Drake, both of Florida; son, Beau (Melinda) Valtinson of Nephi; 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; brother, Bill (Cindy) Holm of Grand Rapids, Minnesota; sisters, Sharron (Matt) Saari and Pauline (Tim) Ervin of Grand Rapids, Minnesota. Preceded in death by her mother and daughter, Renee Fuller Peterson.
Funeral services were held at Anderson Funeral Home on Monday, June 11, 2007. Interment followed in Vine Bluff Cemetery, Nephi, Utah.
