OPERATION LIFESAVER •Operation
Lifesaver, a non-profit group that teaches
railway safety, participated in a "sting" last
Thursday in Nephi. The locomotive chugged back
and forth on a 1-mile stretch, allowing officers
to target motorists and pedestrians who ignored
the flashing lights and railroad crossing arms.
Bret Barney, Utah's Operation Lifesaver
coordinator, urges the public to always expect
that a train is coming and to gauge what speed
the train is traveling.
