Jim Stephensen, Bernie Vorhees, Bill Orr, and Gary Bridges presented the Good Sam's Club "Wish List" to county commissioners on Monday, June 7.

They started with the need for the club to extend their contract with the county for use of the fairgrounds. The club rents the fairgrounds for $2,000 a year for one week in the summertime.

Mr. Vorhees said he had a list of some things that the club would like to see done at the fairgrounds.

His first request was better security in the future. He felt that they have no control over who comes onto the grounds, and since they rent the entire grounds for a week, they felt that they should be allowed some restrictions. Commissioner Boyd Howarth said they could close off the south side gate, but was concerned over fire exits.

The second request was for more buildings. Vorhees said he didn't expect the county to build new buildings, but that maybe a bowery could be put over the existing cement pad. He also said that more outlets would be needed.

"You can only have so many extension cords," he joked.

The third request was that a dumping station be installed for the dumping of RV sewage waste. Commissioner Bob Steele said that would be virtually impossible to do at this time because they would have to come from the airport road to tie in. He said that eventually they would like to tie into Nephi's system

"We feel it would be beneficial to have a sewer system at the fairgrounds," said Neil Cook, commissioner, "but we can't do it this year." Right now, the fairgrounds are on a septic tank system.

Vorhees said he knew that the county probably wouldn't be able to accommodate the club with these things at this time, but he wanted to present their concerns for future reference.

Vorhees said that there was approximately $15,000 in receipts turned into the organization last year that was spent in Nephi. He said that Utah has 27 charters of the Good Sam Clubs.

Commissioners decided to approve the contract extension, but did not make any decisions on the other items discussed.
