Lucy Dye
1920-2009
Wales, UT: Lucy Blanche Johnson Dye, 88 passed away April 29, 2009 at Heritage Hills Care Center in Nephi, UT. She was born November 18, 1920 in Fountain Green, UT to Robert Merrill and Blanche Daniels Johnson. She married Theron Rex Dye on May 6, 1938 in Nephi, Utah. Marriage was solemnized on January 25, 1939 in the Manti LDS Temple.
Survived by children: Theron Rex Dye Jr. of Green River, WY; Miriam (Val Jean) Hansen, Centerfield, UT; Kathleen (Bill) Eardley, West Valley, UT; Emory Gene Dye of North Salt Lake, UT; LaPriel Dye of West Jordan, UT; Randle Dye of Wales, UT; 33 grandchildren, 70 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her husband Rex Dye, her parents ‘Bert’ and Blanche Johsnon, son, Robert J. Dye and great-granddaughters, Keisha Jeppesen, Kaya June Johnson, and Tiffany Ruth Butterfield; sisters, Elaine, Edna, Vena; brothers: Ken, Frank, and Jack.
She served in numerous church callings including Primary, Scouting, Relief Society, temple work, and a proud member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and especially Easter at the Ridge. She was an excellent cook and will be remembered for her bread and lemon meringue pies. She loved to sew, quilt, crochet, and share her talents with others.
Funeral Services were held Saturday, May 2, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the Wales LDS Chapel. Interment in the Wales City Cemetery. Online condolences at rasmussenmortuary.com.
Michael Lynn Park
1952-2009
Michael Lynn Park, age 57, passed away May 1, 2009 at his home in Lynndyl, Utah.
He was born February 22, 1952 in Payson, Utah, to Loran Cleston and Marilyn Kay Park. He married Sheila Joyce Nielson on August 10 1973 in Lynndyl, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple April 22, 1994.
He was a member of the LDS church. He owned Park Plumbing and loved his work. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, and camping. He loved most of all being with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Sheila; children, Shawn Park, Jason (Sabreanna) Park, Andrea (Nate) Park; mother, Marilyn Park; brother, Marlin (Denise) Park; eight beautiful grandchildren, Alexsa, Korbin, Averie, Nikki, and Madison Park; Makiah and Breckin Scott; Kaiden Hendrickson. Preceded in death by his father, Cleston Park and brother, Craig Park.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 5, 2009, in the Mona 3rd Ward, 800 South 150 West. Interment in the Mona Cemetery.

Lt. Col. Ryan James Bender
1958-2009
Lt. Col. Ryan James Bender passed away of heart failure April 25, 2009 in Stuttgart, Germany, after participating in an Elder's Quorum Activity. He was born June 15, 1958 in Murray, Utah, to Russell and Colleen Matthews Bender. He graduated from Juab High School in 1976, Snow College 1980, BYU 1982 and commissioned as a 2nd Lt. in the Air Force, Masters Degree BYU 1990.
He has been a member of the Air Force Reserves for 23 years obtaining the rank of Lt. Colonel serving as Chief of Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance, USAFE/A2. His love for the Air Force shows by the many times he has been recognized for his excellence of service having received the "Air Force Outstanding Unit Award" and the "Outstanding Reserve Intelligence Officer of the year." He recently signed a contract with Booz Allen Hamilton a Corporation that receives contracts from the Air Force. He would be continuing his service as an Intelligence Officer.
Ryan was also involved in purchasing and selling Real Estate and owns a Subway Franchise in California with his brother Shawn.
Ryan has a great love for his family and spent many hours with his brothers hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, rafting down the Green River, scuba diving, and deep sea fishing. He enjoyed playing table games and was very competitive. He loved sports and was an avid fan of BYU and Air Force. Ryan enjoyed our yearly family reunions at Lagoon and eating at Chuck A Rama.
Ryan had a great love for music, singing in quartets, the "LD Singers" at Snow College, the BYU ROTC "Footprints of Freedom," and other College and Church Choirs. Ryan had a deep love for America and felt a deep need to preserve the Constitution and our liberties.
Ryan was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints having served in the Harrisburg Pennsylvania Mission. Years ago he was set apart as a Missionary by the Kaiserslautern Stake President, never to be released until he finished his service with the Military. He had a great love for Missionary Work and was an example to family and associates. Ryan was a scholar of the scriptures and an avid reader of Church Books and Science Fiction.
He is survived by his parents, Russell and Colleen Bender; 5 brothers, Russell, Nyal (Claudia), Daren(Sheryl), Shawn, and Jason(Nicole) and sister Diane (Kory), and 30 nieces and nephews who he loved dearly, and they loved him. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Services were held May 4, 2009, in the 2nd Ward Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Armand Earl Fashion, Sr.
1936-2009
Armand Earl Fashion, Sr. age 72, passed away peacefully April 30, 2009 in Nephi, Utah.
He was born May 6, 1936 in Farmington, New Mexico, to Harry and Bernice Whiston Fashion.
He loved spending time with his family and friends, playing poker, taking trips to Wendover, and spending time outdoors.
Survived by his son, A Earl (Wanda) Fashion Jr.; step-daughter, Mary Ann Baker; two sisters; grandchildren, Jeff (Nikki) Wold, Anna Wold, Brian Evenson (Fashion), Tony (Cassie) Fashion, Lisa (Geoff) Walker, Amanda (Austin) Johnson, Ashley Fashion; 11 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents; sisters; son, Mike Fashion and Mike's mom, Mary Morris.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 9, 2009, at Nephi City Park.
Fern W. Nelson
1926-2009
Fern Worthington Nelson, 82, loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend, joined the love of her life and eternal companion, Rees William Nelson, when she returned home to her Heavenly Father on Friday, May 1, 2009.
Born to Murren Henry and Geneva Rees Worthington on September 9, 1926 in Nephi, UT. Fern graduated from Juab High School, Class of 1944, and married her one and only true love, Rees, on October 4, 1945. Fern and Rees were sealed for all eternity in the Manti Temple on December 17, 1946.
Fern was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and held many church callings throughout her life.
She loved flowers and gardening; most summer mornings Fern could be found outside, tending to her many flower beds or her plentiful vegetable garden.
Family outings were Fern’s favorite pastime; some of her happiest moments were spent with her family in the sun and shade of Santaquin Canyon.
Fern’s life was devoted to her family, and her never-ending desire to serve others will be remembered by all those whose lives she touched.
Fern was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her sisters Phyllis Price and Lois Boswell.
Fern is survived by her children, Jerry (Lynda), Dale (Clarice), Dave (Madge), Kent (Jennifer) and Vickie Aragon (Larry); 25 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and her brothers, Dean and Gordon Worthington.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at 12:00 noon in the LDS Chapel located at 90 South 200 East, Santaquin. Friends may call at Holladay-Brown Funeral Home, 66 South 300 East, Santaquin, Wednesday at the church from 10:30-11:45 a.m. Burial will be at the Santaquin City Cemetery. Bessie I. Cook
1916-2009
Bessie Irons Cook passed peacefully from this life April 28, 2009. She was born August 27, 1916 in Nephi, Utah, to Harry and Ethel Irons. She was the fourth of five children, two brothers and two sisters; all of which preceded her in death. She married the love of her life, Kermit Cook, July 10, 1939 in the Manti Temple. Kermit passed away January 2006.
Bessie loved being surrounded by beautiful flowers and always enjoyed having a wonderful vegetable garden. She was well known for her green thumb in her home town of Fountain Green, Utah. Service to others came very natural to Bessie, both in the church and the community. Bessie served in many church callings plus a mission at the Manti Temple Visitors Center with her husband. She always enjoyed providing home cooked meals and fresh grown vegetables to those that were sick or in need. The very center of her life was her Heavenly Father and her Savior. Her testimony of Jesus Christ will radiate through her family throughout eternity. Her focus was always her children and her grandchildren. She was a wonderful mother and friend. Always living by faith and instilling the same in all those who knew her.
She is the mother of three daughters and one son: Elsie Ann Bryan (Glenn) of West Valley, Utah; Nancy Worthington (Jay) of Highland, Utah; Rosemary McFadden (David) of St. George, Utah; and Raymond who proceeded her in death. Bessie has seventeen grandchildren (two proceeded her in death) and forty-three great-grandchildren.
Your life mother, will always be a beacon on a hill for each of us as we walk the path of life. God be with you until we meet again.
Memorial Services were held Monday 4, 2009 at 1 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home, 94 W. 300 N. in Nephi, Utah. The interment was in the Fountain Green Cemetery.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff and management of the Greenwood Manor in Lehi, Utah, for their loving and thoughtful care of mother. Bessie lived at the manor for the past three and one half years. |
