Dee Sparks
1917-2005

Dee Earl Sparks died May 21, 2005 in American Fork. He was born Mar 20, 1917 in Nephi, Utah, the son of Bertrand Harley and Edith Musette Goble Sparks.

He was a graduate of Nephi High School. He married Donna Lucile Tanner Oct 6, 1937 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died in an automobile accident on June 4, 1973 in Lehi, Utah. He later married Margaret Hatch Nielsen on June 29, 1979. They lived in Nephi until his retirement when they moved to American Fork.

Dee was a veteran of WWII serving in the Pacific Theater. He was the owner/operator of Sparks Wholesale Candy Co., distributing products between Nephi, Delta and Cedar City.

Survivors include 8 children, Helen (Dee) Tranter, Moab; DeRay (Sandra) Sparks, Grantsville; Scott (DeeAnna) Sparks, American Fork; Ann (Michael) Arehart, Moab; Mavaun Nielsen, Spanish Fork; Linda (Jay) Allen, American Fork; Diane (Rex) Newman, Pleasant Grove; Cheryl Jean (John) Leka, Salt Lake City; 28 grandchildren and 70 great, 3 great great grandchildren; 1 brother, Clark (Grace) Sparks, St. George and sister-in-law Bernice Sparks, Nephi.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wed, May 25, 2005 in the American Fork 10th Ward at 507 W 700 N. Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:45 prior to services. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. in the Vine Bluff Cemetery in Nephi, Utah.


Rulon Wood

Rulon Clark Wood unexpectedly passed away on May 21, 2005 at the age of 69 of a heart attack. Rulon was born on April 16, 1936 in Levan, Utah, to Clark Stevens and Marie Anderson Wood. Rulon married Jessie Ann Martin in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on August 19, 1955. This year would have been Rulon and Jessie's 50th wedding anniversary. Rulon and Jessie are the proud parents of four children.

Rulon spent his whole life serving others, whether it be through his work at Nephi Rubber Products, his service as a Levan Town Councilman, board member of the Nephi Western Employees Federal Credit Union, active member of the LDS church, or operating his backhoe for the benefit of others. Rulon was a member of the Levan Town Baseball Team. Rulon enjoyed camping, hunting, riding horses, Dutch oven cooking.

Rulon is survived by his wife, Jessie; son, Clark R. Wood (Marrian); daughter, Barbara Johnson (Doug); son, Gary Wood (Stephanie); brother, Everitt Wood (LaVerne); sister, Lola Lee; sister, Lillis Woodall; sister, Elaine Anderson (Dale); 10 grandchildren. He was receded in death by infant daughter, Debra Ann Wood; parents, Clark and Marie Wood; sister, Delma Bennett.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. at the Levan Ward Chapel. Friends may call at the church 1 hour prior to services. Interment, Levan Cemetery.


James Bills
1923-2005

James Boyd Bills, age 81, passed away on May 16, 2005 in Nephi, Utah, after a long illness. He was born and raised in Fountain Green, Utah, where he was a life-long resident until 3 years ago when he went to reside at Heritage Hills Care Center in Nephi. He was born on Sept. 29, 1923 to James W. and Eliza Charlotte Bills.

He was a Veteran of World War II where he served in the Philippines and New Guinea. On Nov. 9, 1946 he married Norma Jean Nielsen in Salt Lake City. They were sealed in the Manti LDS Temple on April 1, 1978. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was employed at Nephi Rubber Plant, herded sheep for the Euray Allred family and also retired from the Moroni Feed Company, where he was known as the "Medicine Man."

He is survived by 2 sons and 3 daughters: Jim (Margaret) Bills of Nephi, Jean (Richard) Johnson of Mantua, Molly Robison of Moroni, Marvin (Coreen) Bills, and Sharon Bills, both of Fountain Green. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, a son Ronald Bills, granddaughter Emily Johnson, his parents, his brothers Dick, John and Alton Bills, his sisters Vera Ried Jensen and Maxine Garlick.

Funeral services were held May 20, 2005 at the Fountain Green 1st Ward Chapel. Interment in the Fountain Green City Cemetery.
